We manufacture hexagonal double-twist steel wire mesh and steel ring nets in our own plant; high-tensile meshes and flexible barriers come from Geobrugg, and installation and anchoring works are carried out by our own crews. This distinction is written explicitly into every bid.

The problem
In this sector the line between "manufacturer" and "installer" is often left blurred; the client learns who is responsible for which item only when a problem appears. If the mesh of a line comes from one place, the cables from another, the anchors from a third and a fourth party installs it, the chain of responsibility breaks in the event of failure. The same vagueness works at bid stage: when it is not visible which item is manufactured, which imported and which installed, prices cannot be compared.
The second problem is lead time and spares. When an imported component is damaged, the supply time can hold up the project; items that can be produced to size are renewed quickly. Knowing this difference from the start makes the maintenance plan realistic. The purpose of this page is to state plainly where each item comes from.
How we decide
Whether an item is manufactured by us or supplied is not arbitrary; certification, test requirements and the possibility of producing to size decide it.
| Observation | Criterion | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| System classified by full-scale impact test | The energy class belongs to the system as a whole; components cannot be swapped | Geobrugg, imported; installed with its integrity preserved |
| Anchored mesh with certified surface-parallel resistance | A declaration under the assessment document is required | Geobrugg, imported |
| Wire mesh with a standard product definition | Properties defined by EN 10223-3 | Made by Artusa, to size |
| Panels and local reinforcement to size | To be adapted to the project geometry | Made by Artusa |
| Drilling, anchoring, grouting, shotcrete | Site work needing equipment and crews | Installed by Artusa |
| Item that must be renewed quickly | Maintenance and repair time critical | A manufactured item is preferred where possible |
System family
| Item | Use | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Hexagonal double-twist steel wire mesh | Slope drapery, gabions, erosion control; galvanized and galvanized with polymer coating | Made by Artusa |
| Ring net panel | Panels to size, local reinforcement and patches | Made by Artusa |
| Suspension footbridge steelwork | Towers, saddles, deck and railings | Made by Artusa |
| High-tensile mesh and flexible barriers | Rockfall, slope stabilization, debris flow, avalanche | Geobrugg, imported |
| Cables, clamps, tensioning and connecting hardware | Across all system families | Made and sourced by Artusa |
| Drilling, anchoring, shotcrete, installation | All site works | Installed by Artusa |
Technical characteristics
Wire diameter, mesh opening, tensile strength, coating class and panel size are fixed in writing in the order file for each project. Wire dimensions and tolerances fall under EN 10218-2, zinc and zinc-alloy coatings under EN 10244-2, polymer coatings under EN 10245-3, and the product definition of hexagonal double-twist mesh under EN 10223-3.
Installation
Having manufacturing and site work under the same roof shortens the sequence. Dimensions come from the site: line axis, panel sizes, overlap allowances and the cutting plan are passed to the plant, and the manufactured items are packed and shipped in installation order. This reduces cutting on site; every panel cut on site is a loss of labour and of coating integrity.
Drilling, anchoring, grouting, shotcrete and installation works are carried out with our own equipment and crews. In sections that are hard to reach, experienced rope-access crews do the work; work at height is organised under EN 795 and EN 365. Control points differ between plant and site: in the plant, wire diameter, mesh size, coating thickness and panel length; on site, the drilling record, grout volume, anchor pull-out test, overlap and clip frequency.
Acceptance and maintenance
Delivered on the manufacturing side: material and coating certificates, batch measurement records, the panel list with dimensions, and a traceability record matching the dispatch note. For imported systems the declaration of performance and the test report go into the file; which components the document covers is stated separately, because the certificate belongs to the system as a whole.
In maintenance the advantage of a manufactured item is plain: a damaged panel is re-produced to size and replaced quickly. For imported systems the spare parts list and supply time are fixed at the start and written into the maintenance plan; without that, the maintenance programme stays on paper.
Frequently asked
- Which items do you manufacture? Hexagonal double-twist wire mesh, ring net panels and suspension footbridge steelwork. High-tensile meshes and flexible barriers are sourced from Geobrugg; installation, anchoring and shotcrete works are done by our own crews.
- Does my specification have to name a brand? No; when performance values and the scope of the assessment document are written, bids become comparable.
- What information do you need for a quotation? Line length and geometry, site measurements, access conditions and the target performance. Photographs and a location are the fastest start; see how to reach us.
